I've worn both Salomon and Hoka for trail running. Salomon Speedcross is great for technical trails, the grip is amazing. But for longer, more relaxed trails, I prefer Hoka Challenger, it's so comfortable and cushioned. Depends on your trail style!
For me, it's all about consistency and gradual progression. I've found that 30-35 miles a week allows me to build endurance without risking burnout or injury. But it's crucial to listen to your body and adjust accordingly. What works for one person might not work for another. Experiment and find what works best for you!
