Achilles tendinitis: Anyone else stuck in this cycle of pain?

Got diagnosed with achilles tendinitis a few weeks ago. Rest, ice, compression, elevation... been doing all that jazz. Still hurts like hell. Anyone else stuck in this never-ending cycle of pain? How long did it take you to recover?
