Shin Splints: Prevention or Treatment?

I've been dealing with shin splints on and off for months. I've tried rest, ice, compression, and elevation, but I'm still struggling. Has anyone found a foolproof way to prevent them in the first place? Or is it just a matter of treating the symptoms and hoping for the best? Share your experiences!

I've had my fair share of shin splints too. To be honest, I think it's a bit of both - prevention and treatment. I've found that strengthening my ankles and calves has helped reduce the frequency of shin splints. But when I do get them, I've learned to listen to my body and take rest days. No magic solution here, just patience and persistence.

Shin splints are the worst. I've found that switching to more supportive shoes and orthotics has made a huge difference for me. It's not a guarantee, but it's helped reduce the pain. Also, don't be a hero, take rest days when you need them. Your shins will thank you.
