Trail Running Shoes for Beginners

I've been running on roads for years, but I'm thinking of giving trail running a shot. What are some good trail running shoes for a beginner like me? I don't want to break the bank, but I also don't want to sacrifice too much on quality. Any recommendations or tips for a newbie to trail running?

I made the switch to trail running a year ago and it's been a game-changer. For beginners, I'd say don't overthink it too much. Get a shoe that's comfortable and has decent grip. I started with a pair of Brooks Cascadia and they've been great. Not too pricey either. Just remember to ease into trail running, it's a different beast than road running. Start with short distances and work your way up.

Brooks Cascadia is a good choice, I've heard good things about them. Comfort is key for me.

As a trail runner myself, I'd recommend starting with a shoe that has good traction and support. Look for shoes with aggressive lugs and a comfortable fit. Salomon and Hoka are great options for beginners. Don't worry too much about breaking the bank, you can find good quality shoes for under $100. Just remember to try them out on a few short trails before committing to a longer run.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into Salomon and Hoka shoes. I've heard good things about them. Aggressive lugs make sense for trail running, I wouldn't want to slip and fall on my first trail run. Trying them out on short trails is a great tip, I'll make sure to do that before committing to a longer run.
