Consistency and gradual progression is key. I've learned that the hard way too. I'd rather have a slow and steady progress than risk getting injured with an aggressive plan.
Dobson's win is definitely the bigger story. Asher-Smith's had a great season, but 80-1 odds is just incredible. I'm not surprised it got you excited, it's a huge upset.
Balance is key, I'm still working on it, but at least I'm aware now.
I'm still figuring this out, but I've been trying to start slow and see how my body feels. I don't think I'm experienced enough to try to negative split or do a progression run just yet. My goal is just to finish the long run without completely exhausting myself. Maybe one day I'll get to the point where I can worry about pace and rhythm.
Yeah, pace over distance is a good approach. I've also found that breaking it down into smaller, manageable chunks helps. Instead of 400m sprints, try 200m or even 100m intervals. It's not as intimidating and you can still get the benefits. Plus, it's easier to recover from.

I've tried Strava and Runkeeper, but I'm not a fan of all the bells and whistles. I just want something simple that tracks my run. MapMyRun's been okay for me, but I'm still looking for something better.
Ugh, please, I'm still struggling to get past 3 miles without dying. 26.2 is a pipe dream for me right now.
