Achilles Tendinitis Recovery

Struggling to recover from Achilles tendinitis. Has anyone tried eccentric calf exercises or shockwave therapy? Did they help? Looking for any tips to get back to running pain-free.

I had a similar experience with Achilles tendinitis a few years back. What worked for me was a combination of rest, icing, and compression. I also made sure to incorporate strength training exercises for my core and glutes, as weak hips and glutes can put additional stress on your Achilles. It took time, but I was able to get back to running without issues. Good luck with your recovery!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with Achilles tendinitis. I've been there too, and it's frustrating. I did try eccentric calf exercises and they really helped me. It's a slow process, but consistency is key. I also made sure to stretch and foam roll my calf regularly. It took a few months, but I was able to get back to running without pain. Yeah, consistency is key. I've also heard that strengthening your ankles can help prevent Achilles tendinitis from coming back. Have you tried that? I'm currently doing some ankle exercises in addition to the eccentric calf exercises. Fingers crossed it'll help me get back to running sooner.

Thanks for the advice! I've been doing eccentric calf exercises for a few weeks now, and I can feel some improvement. I'll definitely keep at it and add more stretching and foam rolling to my routine. It's good to know that it took you a few months to recover, I'll be patient and not rush back into running.

I had Achilles tendinitis a few years ago and it was a nightmare. I tried shockwave therapy and it seemed to help. It reduced the pain and inflammation. In addition to that, I made sure to wear proper shoes and orthotics. It's also important to reduce your mileage and intensity when you're recovering. Don't try to rush back into running, it'll only make it worse. Take your time, and be patient.

I've had some success with physical therapy and gradual return to running. Focus on strengthening your ankle and calf.

PT and gradual return to running worked for me too.

Thanks for the advice! I've been doing some PT exercises, but I haven't tried gradual return to running yet. Do you have any specific tips on how to do that safely? I don't want to aggravate the injury.
