Strength Training for Runners: How Much is Enough?

I've started incorporating strength training into my routine to improve my running performance, but I'm not sure how much is necessary. How many days a week do you dedicate to strength training, and what exercises do you focus on?

I've found that 1-2 strength training sessions a week is the sweet spot for me. Any more and I feel like I'm taking away from my running. Focus on exercises that target your weaknesses, and don't overcomplicate it. You're a runner, not a bodybuilder. Keep it simple and effective.

I aim for 1-2 strength training sessions a week, targeting my weak spots like calves and hips. Anything more and I feel like I'm sacrificing running time.

I do strength training 2-3 times a week, focusing on exercises that target my core, glutes, and legs. I don't overdo it, as I believe too much strength training can take away from my running. A good rule of thumb is to do enough to support your running, not replace it.

2-3 times a week sounds about right. I do 2 days of strength training, focusing on similar areas. I've found that it's all about finding that balance between supporting your running and not exhausting yourself. Quality over quantity, you know?

That's a great approach! I also do 2-3 times a week, focusing on exercises that target my weaknesses. I find that it helps with injury prevention and overall running efficiency. It's all about finding that balance between strength training and running.
