What's the point of max cushioning shoes?

I've been running in max cushioning shoes for a few months now and I'm still not convinced they're worth the extra weight and cost. Anyone else have similar doubts?

I've tried max cushioning shoes and honestly, they felt like running in moon boots. If you're not a heavy heel striker, you're just paying for extra fluff. Give me a good ol' pair of Brooks Launch any day.

I've found that max cushioning shoes are great for recovery runs or long slow distances. They're not for everyone, but they've saved my legs on many occasions. Maybe try them for a specific purpose, like a long run, and see if you notice a difference.
