GPS Tracking Anxiety

I've recently started using GPS tracking on my runs and I have to admit, it's been a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it's great to see my progress and pace, but on the other hand, I find myself getting anxious if my pace slows down or I don't hit my target splits. Does anyone else experience this? How do you balance the benefits of GPS tracking with the potential drawbacks of added pressure?

I've been there too. I think the key is to use GPS tracking as a tool, not a judge. Focus on the progress you're making, not the individual splits. And remember, it's okay to have off days. I try to set realistic goals and celebrate small victories along the way. That helps me stay motivated without getting too caught up in the numbers.

I totally get it. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers, but at the end of the day, it's about how you feel. I've started setting process-based goals instead of outcome-based ones. Like, instead of 'I need to run a 7-minute mile', it's 'I'm going to focus on my form and breathing'. It helps me stay focused on what I can control.

Good advice! I think it's also important to remember why you started running in the first place. Is it to hit certain splits or to enjoy the process? For me, it's about finding a balance between pushing myself and having fun. If I'm too focused on the numbers, I start to dread my runs. But if I focus on how I feel, I'm more likely to stay motivated and relaxed.

Yeah, I feel you. GPS tracking can be a real mental game. I just try to remind myself that it's just data and not the end of the world if I don't hit my targets.
