GPS Tracking Lies

Let's be real, how often do our GPS watches/tracks/whatever give us inaccurate data? I swear, my Garmin says I ran 10 miles but I know damn well it was more like 9.5. Anyone else experience this? What's the worst inaccuracy you've seen? And more importantly, do we just accept it or is there a better alternative?

I've had my fair share of GPS inaccuracies, especially in heavy tree cover or urban canyons. It's frustrating, but I've learned to take it with a grain of salt. I've found that averaging my pace and distance over a few runs gives me a more realistic picture. Not ideal, but it's what we've got for now.

GPS tracking is like a bad friend - it's nice to have, but you can't always trust it. I've had my Garmin add or subtract up to 0.5 miles from my actual distance. It's annoying, but what can you do? I just use it as a rough guide and focus on how my body feels. If I feel like I crushed a workout, that's all that matters.

Ain't that the truth? My Garmin's been known to fib too.

I'm with you on that. GPS tracking can be sketchy at times. I've had instances where my watch said I ran 6 miles, but my route was definitely shorter. It's frustrating, but like you said, it's just a rough guide. I've learned to take it with a grain of salt and focus on my performance, not the exact numbers.

I've had my Garmin add or subtract miles from my runs, but you know what? I've learned to live with it. It's not like it's the end of the world. I mean, we're not trying to win the Olympics here. If it's close enough, I'm good. And if it's not, oh well. I've got better things to worry about.
