Hill Repeats: Torture or Training?

I've been incorporating hill repeats into my training and I'm not sure if I'm getting stronger or just more miserable. Anyone else out there doing hill work? What's your favorite (least favorite?) hill route? Do you find it's making a difference in your overall running fitness?

Hill repeats are a necessary evil. I do them once a week, and yeah, they suck. But they're making a difference in my endurance and speed. I've got a favorite route with a 1/4 mile climb that gets my heart rate up quick. It's not fun, but it's worth it. You're not alone in the misery, buddy.
